2017 Rhiwbina summer festival

Last Saturday saw the 2017 Rhiwbina summer festival – what a massive success! The weather played its part but so did a huge number people bringing food, drink, craft, music, dance and many other forms of celebration to the village.

OMB Cardiff had a small part to play in helping out Nest Vintage Living with its charity version of the Great British Bake off – I was honoured to be asked to judge the bread category. People gave up their time to bake bara brith, welsh cakes, lemon drizzle cakes, Victoria sponges and bread, then alongside the judges, the public pay to taste the entires from a category and choose their winner. In the bread category, 3rd place was taken by a seeded white loaf, 2nd by a white, farmhouse tin loaf and 1st place went to a rather delicious treacle and raisin soda bread! Loads of fun and loads of money raised for charity, and it was great to everyone enjoying the unique village atmosphere.

Roll on the Rhiwbina Christmas festival!
