Beats, Eats and Treats 2018

It was a busy weekend for OMB Cardiff as is often the case for food producers in summer, with the festivals in full swing. Saturday was the Rhiwbina summer festival and Sunday was my first festival food demonstration at Barry Island’s Beats, Eats and Treats. The festival is quite new the scene and is a combination of live music, delicious street food and demonstrations and craft stalls.

I decided to demonstrate focaccia bread! A great bread for the novice baker to have a go at because of the lack of shaping involved, which can sometimes be technical and a bit tricky. Something that I spend quite a bit of time on during classes so that people feel confident shaping bread in different ways.

Focaccia is quite a wet and sticky dough and I talked about being prepared to work with wet doughs to get better bread and whatever you do DON’T ADD FLOUR!!

The demo was great fun and certainly from my point of view a big success. The samples didn’t last long so I think all the people who came to watch enjoyed it as well.

I cant wait to get back out there and do some more festivals next year!

Rugby World
