Hand Delivered Goodness

The One Mile Bakery – Tadcaster – 24 January 2020 17:02

A massive pleasure to welcome Ben from @yorkonafork to a baking class today. Awesome baking and great to meet so many passionate foodies.

What a wonderful Saturday! I cannot recommend Phil’s baking classes highly enough. Myself and a friend came along to the Italian baking class, where we were able to make a variety of breads, pizza, and some sweet treats. It was a full day activity, from 10:30 to 4:30, with lots of little breaks in between where we were able to enjoy a selection of snacks and drinks provided by Phil, when we could sit and chat with the other attendees. The atmosphere was warm, friendly and relaxed, which is not only down to Phil’s fantastic teaching, but also the small group size (maximum of 7 people to a class), and the setting for the class being in Phil’s home - it truly felt like a relaxing afternoon baking with friends! Highlights of the day for me include the pizza lunch - we’d made the dough earlier in the morning before our first snack break of homemade bread with delicious jams and curds, then topped the pizza before firing it in the oven and enjoying it fresh with a glass of wine - and the focaccia - which we were able to put our own spin on with a huge range of topics to choose from, and it certainly went down a treat back at my home! We came away from the class with plenty of new baking skills I hope to maintain, a huge selection of delicious bakes, and satisfaction from a really pleasant experience! Phil’s baking classes would make a perfect gift, but would also just be a fantastic day out if you fancied doing something a bit different! Come alone or come with friends, come with skills or as a complete novice, and either way, you’ll have a wonderful time! (Annabelle Durrad)

Tonight’s deliveries: sourdough sweet loaf with sultana (in rum), orange zest, cranberry’s, walnuts, pistachio and cinnamon. Semlor buns (‘tis the season to eat Scandi!) and roasted tomato and basil soup. Pretty delicious on a cold and very windy night. Bike deliveries were…..challenging on the legs this evening!!!!
