Hand Delivered Goodness

Our Bakeries

Following the phenomenal response to the first One Mile Bakery in Cardiff, with a long waiting list for deliveries and huge demand for our baking classes, we want to bring the unique OMB experience to many more of you. A network of brilliant bakers and teachers are setting up their own One Mile Bakeries in locations across the UK. Each will deliver delicious homemade bread, soup and preserves by bike to subscribers within a mile of their kitchen and teach inspirational baking classes.

Pontardawe: Lesley & Mike Lloyd are newly settled in Pontardawe, realising their dream of opening a One Mile Bakery. They are our first OMB duo, and our second OMB in gorgeous Wales, so these really are VIBs (Very Important Bakers). They deliver in their mile on a Wednesday evening and launch their amazing baking classes at home on 15 June.

Trudoxhill: One Mile Bakery founder Elisabeth Mahoney is teaching a range of One Mile Bakery baking classes in her village, just outside Frome in Somerset, this summer. Classes will be taught at Meadowside Farm Kitchen, just outside Trudoxhill, while building work is done on her cottage.

Hale: Teacher turned baker Matt Townley opened the first OMB in the north-west in 2018, delivering amazing loaves, soups and preserves by bike in Hale on Wednesday evenings and teaching brilliant baking courses in his kitchen.

Exeter: After a successful career in the world of the arts, Boudicca Woodland now relishes a different challenge with her trademark passion and creativity, bringing OMB deliveries to her vibrant and much-loved community of St Thomas each Tuesday and teaching fantastic baking classes in her micro-bakery at home.

Cardiff: Professional rugby player turned baker Nick Macleod is bringing amazing bread to a whole new Cardiff mile in Rhiwbina, where he grew up and has now returned to with his young family. He also teaches inspirational baking classes around his micro-bakery table at home.

We are working with other home bakers right now, helping them set up their own bakery in their community, and teaching them how to run brilliant baking classes. Would you like to have a One Mile Bakery in your area? If the idea of homemade bread, soup and jam delivered to your door appeals, or you’d be interested in a local venue offering great value, inspirational baking classes let us know!

OMB deliveries are a little weekly luxury that lift the spirits. Most of the time I’m rushing round after small boys – on OMB night I stop and savour that bread and soup, because they’re worth it. Plus it’s a night where I don’t have to think about what to get for supper!

BBC Good Food magazine features One Mile Bakery Cardiff classes in Best Food Experiences in the UK

Here at OMB, we love BBC Good Food. It’s the go-to magazine and website for passionate home cooks, and the one we all trust for recipes that work. So, when one of their writers booked in to do Nick’s Scandinavian Baking class, it was all rather exciting. It was even more exciting when the class
