Sweet Potato Soup Recipe

It’s that time of year when gorgeous soups are well in season so I thought I’d share my Sweet Potato Soup recipe with you. This recipe is great with a big hunk of bread and butter and best served when it’s cold and wet outside. This will serve 4-6 people.


  • 1kg Sweet Potatoes
  • 3 medium Potatoes
  • 1 large onion
  • 2 cloves of garlic crushed
  • 1.5 litres of vegetable stock
  • Mixed herbs


  1. Peel and finely chop the potatoes and onion
  2. Heat a large saucepan with some olive oil and fry the potato and onion over a low heat
  3. Peel and chop the Sweet Potato
  4. Add the garlic to the frying pan and mix until onion and potato are soft
  5. Throw in the Sweet Potato and add your stock and herbs
  6. Bring to the boil and then turn down and allow to simmer for 30 minutes
  7. Use a hand blender to blitz the soup
  8. Serve with bread and a swirl of olive oil
