First reviews of OMB Hale & OMB Exeter classes are in

So, you’ve decided you want to do a baking class or buy a gift voucher for one as a present: why choose OMB? 

We currently offer One Mile Bakery classes in Cardiff, Hale and Exeter, and will be adding Somerset (near Frome) early next year. The ethos in each location is the same. Classes are hosted at the baker’s home in small groups and assume no prior baking experience. Many people attend on their own, others come with a friend or two, and some groups book a private class for a special occasion. Everyone has a fantastic time and we want you to feel as if you are baking at a friend’s house for the day.

These are full-day, hands-on courses – we don’t just demo to you. You get your hands stuck into bowls of dough; you learn to feel what you are looking for in terms of consistency and elasticity while mixing and kneading ingredients, and you practice the all-important shaping techniques that transform dough into stunning bread. 

It’s really important to us that our classes are great value and offer a really special day away from stressful lives, so that while you learn all our tips and techniques, you enjoy a fun, relaxed workshop featuring a superb two-course homemade lunch with wine, and delicious snacks through the day.  You get to take all your baking home with you – we do not get you to make or bake your own lunch! – along with detailed recipes and the confidence to recreate the bakes in your kitchen at home. Our recipes work at home because they were written and road-tested in our domestic kitchens, and all OMB bakers are adept at fitting baking into busy family lives, so we show you how to do this.

Summer 2018 has been really exciting with the opening of OMB Hale and OMB Exeter. We’ve invited the best, most influential local food bloggers in to experience our classes and their reviews have been amazing, giving a real sense – in words and photos – what the baking days are really like. Matt in Hale launched first, and has been reviewed in key Manchester and Cheshire blogs including Hale Geezer, Sophie’s Scran, Jacinta Dawn, Phat Cupcake and Eleanor Graceful. Boudicca in Exeter recently launched classes and we were thrilled that her first review appeared on the foodie must-read Tara’s Busy Kitchen blog. Lots of floury gratitude to everyone for taking time to come and bake at OMB for your reviews. More to come.
