Cookery Course Review: One Mile Bakery, Exeter – by Lauren Heath

Recently, I invited Lauren and her son Kyle to experience a half day class.  We had a lovely day making a loaf, scones and pizza for lunch.  You can read more here.   For me the real highlight was this part of the review: “It’s like learning to bake with a friend, and that for some may be less daunting than a large, formal cookery school.” This really gets to the heart of how I host classes – the day should be fun and enjoyable with plenty of laughter and joy.

The half day classes are suitable for children aged 8+ and I’m planning on adding a number in the summer holidays, so do keep your eyes on my social media (Facebook  / Twitter / Instagram).

The half day class would also be suitable for groups of friends or even a bijou hen do – you’ll make delicious bakes but also share lunch and a glass (or two) of wine or fizz.  A perfect way to spend the day.

You can check out my full day and half day classes here and as a special offer readers can save 10% off a class when using the code BAKE10.

If there aren’t suitable dates on my list, please do get in touch as we can arrange classes to suit.

I'd previously made bread at home using a machine but was never satisfied with the result so the "Introduction to Breadmaking" seemed a good place to start!  The teacher (Boudicca) explained things clearly but kept the mood of the course upbeat and fun... I like the 'zero waste' and 'reducing food miles' ethos of this company. I'm planning to bake bread for my family as a result of attending this so it really was worthwhile.
